This is a light romp with a big vomit trigger warning.
We had a fun, silly time filming this. One of my favorite moments was the couch-launch. In the rough sketches I had boarded out, I described the scene as the moment the character realizes he is about to puke, panics and runs to the bathroom. The lead actor, CJ Ryan, asked me more about the type of exit the character was going to make. We made each other laugh, pitching ideas. Then, I think CJ said he knew what he was going to do. So, I said "okay" and we got ready to shoot. It was really hard not to laugh behind the camera when CJ threw himself over the back of the couch, nearly flipping the whole thing back with him. Of course, that was the take we went with, even though it wasn't the last one we filmed.
Even for a comedy short, I was excited to get creative with our lighting. We had a video of flashing colored lights to give the illusion that a TV was playing in front of him, because actual TV didn't give the same effect on camera. In some shots, CJ had a pile of string lights on his lap to give the practical coloring I wanted for the short.
